| Day's Summary: First day at the Grand Canyon South Rim. Overnight: Mather Campground. |

Traveling on I-40 West (near exit 284) early in the morning. As this was my first time back to the Grand Canyon since 1999, I was very excited. I drove straight to the Grand Canyon with no sleep breaks, so this was after a full day/night of driving. I did rest at least a couple times at truck stops on the way out.

For the first time in a decade, I was back to the Grand Canyon. Very exciting, and videos can never justice to the views you receive at the Canyon. If you haven't been, I strongly recommend going at least once in your lifetime. It's a sight to see, especially after many hours of driving!

Looking at the Bright Angel Trail, one of the major maintained trails at the South Rim. Along with South Kaibab, Plateau Point, and River Trail, it's considered to be a corridor trail. These trails are regularly patroled and maintained by the National Park Service
Storms can be dangerous, especially at the rim. Below the rim, not quite as dangerous. I'm on the Rim Trail, and I believe I'm east of Bright Angel Lodge. This year, the trip did not include any stays at the Bright Angel Lodge.
