Nearing Albuquerque, NM Traveling on I-40 West (near exit 284) early in the morning. As this was my first time back to the Grand Canyon since 1999, I was very excited. I drove straight to the Grand Canyon with no sleep breaks, so this was after a full day/night of driving. I did rest at least a couple times at truck stops on the way out. |
Near Meteor Crater Visitor's Center In Arizona, around 2:30PM Eastern, 11:30PM Arizona time. |
Approaching Flagstaff, AZ Near mile marker 213, around noon local time. |
Grand Canyon South Rim For the first time in a decade, I was back to the Grand Canyon. Very exciting, and videos can never justice to the views you receive at the Canyon. If you haven't been, I strongly recommend going at least once in your lifetime. It's a sight to see, especially after many hours of driving! |
Grand Canyon South Rim: Bright Angel View Looking at the Bright Angel Trail, one of the major maintained trails at the South Rim. Along with South Kaibab, Plateau Point, and River Trail, it's considered to be a corridor trail. These trails are regularly patroled and maintained by the National Park Service Storms can be dangerous, especially at the rim. Below the rim, not quite as dangerous. I'm on the Rim Trail, and I believe I'm east of Bright Angel Lodge. This year, the trip did not include any stays at the Bright Angel Lodge. |
Grand Canyon South Rim: Bright Angel View Thunder. Probably a good idea to not be at the rim with potential lightning strikes! |
