What To Take On A Grand Canyon Hike These recommendations are specifically for the Bright Angel Trail, as it does have treated water available along its length. For backcountry hikes, you'd need to be even more careful. One recommended item that I didn't include is water treatment pills. Since there are several treated water sources available, it would usually be okay. However, that's not guaranteed. That's one thing I should bring that I didn't. Next time, I likely will.
